Winchester Talk & Video
Tomorrow evening (7.30pm 25th October 2011) I’ll be doing one of my favourite things… presenting one of my live photography/Photoshop seminars. The talk is entitled “Quick shots to great shots” and over the course of a few hours, I’ll be showing several of my favourite 15 minute photo challenge videos, followed by live Photoshop editing of the actual images taken during the making of the video.
It’s always a fun evening to do, but this time it gets an added twist as I’m presenting it at Winchester Photographic Society. Ironically, I visited Winchester last year to record one of the videos and I’ll be showing it during the talk. It was recorded inside Winchester Cathedral and I’m pretty sure many of the audience will have also taken some photos at the same place.
In case you missed it, here’s the video of Winchester Cathedral I’ll be showing…
I Love Your Photography, Great Inspiration You Are.
I attended the talk this evening & was again amazed that my £55 annual subs to WPS gets me a whole year’s- worth of fun, excitement & creativity. Gavin’s talk took me up a learning curve as steep as the North Face of the Eiger. However, this process was exhilarating, not scary. (The ‘view’ from the top was ..well..PANORAMIC!)And I now have Elements 10 on the way as a partner to my new Lightroom & will no longer be in the ‘dark’. A great evening-many thanks.
Thanks for the kind words Janette.
Reading about how to shoot panoramas elsewhere, two things seems mandatory.
1. Use a tripod.
2. Rotate around the nodal point of your lens.
You don’t seem to care about that, and still produce great panoramas – like the ones in the cathedral. Is that because:
– Panoheaded tripods and nodal points are just a lot of “hoopla”
-You’r Gavin Hoey – human panohead with nodal spine
-Photoshop takes care of parallax distortion
Thoroughly enjoyed last night’s presentaion (again) Gavin – very entertaining & inspirational. Just sorting out the mass of notes that I took right now! Also a good reminder of what we have on our own doorsteps – the Winchester Cathedral segment was great! Could you remind me of the name of that camera strap that you featured in Florence please?
That was the Black Rapid RS-7 strap.
i have seen this video several times and i just love it. great work gavin.
You are absolutely amazing Gavin. I love watching your videos and your fantastic photos. My partner is starting to learn photography but is only just starting out, and you’ve been a great inspiration for her!
Great info; presented in a very straight forward basic manner, yet providing some great ideas 🙂 Have been watching a few of your video’s, all enjoyed. Cheers from Canada
Hi Gavin fabulous video the crypt shots are my favourites such powerful shots of the statue.
Gavin would you think a trip to the Cathedral with a canon EF 24-70L 2.8
without the IS would be doable at
those speeds hand held.
Thankyou Alan.
After more enquiries I,ve found that tripods are acceptable so Im back on track no more blurred image worries.
Is there a video of the Photoshop Editing Seminar that Gavin did of the 15 Winchester Cathedral?
There’s no Photoshop videos online for that one. Sorry David.
