Photoshop DeBlur Sneak
Adobe are usually pretty tight lipped about the future features that might appear in it’s next version of Photoshop, its very existence isn’t usually talked about and even it’s name is open to speculation. For the sake of argument let’s call it Photoshop CS6.
However Adobe also have a habit of showing off what they like to call “sneaks” of new technology which may (or may not) appear in a future incarnation of Photoshop. So when it came to last weeks Adobe MAX convention there was a lot of anticipation about what Adobe might show. Fortunately Adobe didn’t disappoint with a stunning demo of image deblurring.
Deburring or focusing and blurred image is the holy grail for many digital photographers. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been telling photographers that a blurred image is a lost image. Something tells me that that advice isn’t going to change any time soon, but if Deblurring is real and if makes it into Photoshop CS6 and if it’s half as good as the demo, then Adobe may have just shifted the goal posts.
Wow … now that’s a kind of magic!
Shaky hand held photographers everywhere (me included) are silently weeping. 🙂
Cheers for sharing the sneak,
Sue
All the bad shots that were deleted. I guess I’ll hold on to them for a while now. Amazing.
Is this the end for VR and IS lenses?
Is this the end for VR and IS lenses?
I doubt it.
I’d be very suprised it the images are pin sharp when restored.
I can, sort of, comprihend it working on motion blur. I wonder if it also can increase DOF?
I’m sure the algorithm compensates for camera movement because the “unblurred” image is in there somewhere. I don’t see how it could rectify an out-of-focus image because the pixels simply aren’t there. Right?
Not sure if I agree Steve.
Unless the “camera motion” stopped, abruptly, and remaind stationary for a “while” – there won’t be an unblurred image anywhere – or will there?
I may be wrong (wont be the first time either) as old farts like my are befuddled by “New Fansy Stuff”.
That looks too good to be true, fortunately I don’t have many images that were as blury as those in the demo, but I do have several that aren’t tack-sharp.
As well as a feature for PhotoShop, it would be good if it could be an optional plugin for Lightroom.
The CS5 can be updated?
If this doesn’t ship in CS? then the adobe ones are off their trolly. This could place Photoshop even higher on the industry standard list
